I Praise GOD that my Mother and her Faith played a critical role in my spiritual formation.  For about the first ½ of my life I attended Faith Bible Church in Elkridge, MD. I have seven years’ experience in management in the Fast Food Industry, three years’ experience in Ground Transportation Services at BWI Airport where I last served as Manager of Administration for Hudson General Aviation Services.  In addition, I have a combined 42 years’ experience in Real Estate, Real Estate Title and Mortgage Banking.  I currently serve as a Sr. Mortgage Banker with OLD LINE BANK, headquartered in Bowie, MD.

Rick Harris

I was born and raised in Vicksburg, Mississippi. I grew up in the church and was first baptized at the age of 14 but did not have a true relationship with God. I lived most of his my "walking wounded", imprisoned in my mind from the hurt and pain experienced over my youth.  I lived a life full of anger, a hardened heart, doubled minded, and lived from a place of control, so I thought.   After going through significant life changes it was in 2009 that my life was turned upside down and it was not until then that I surrendered to God completely.  It was coming back from this place that I relied solely on God and began to understand “truly who I was in Christ”. I had a new life, new beginning.  I began to live! Romans 8:28 in all things He works for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

I was commissioned in the US Army as a Field Artillery Officer following graduation from Jackson State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Business Management. I also hold a Master of Business Administration degree from William Carey University. I am a US Army Major (Retired) who has a servant’s heart and finds joy in serving; I believes it is the love of Jesus Christ that will deliver, renew, strengthen, transform and restore individuals and is committed to sharing this love through service. I have actively sought ways in which I can be involved in the restoration, deliverance and healing of those impacted by human trafficking. My commitment to eradicate modern slavery has resulted in becoming a Defender with Share Hope International, an Ambassador and Board Member with Restoration Ministry and a volunteer with various church ministries and local community outreaches in Maryland.

I am married to Jamie Harris and have two children Jessica Danielle (21) and Darrion Elijah Harris (15). I have been at HCC since August of 2015 and was commissioned as an Elder in January 2018. I have served as the course director for the annual Dash for Dignity for the last three years as part of Amazing Grace Ministry.

Jacob Chilcoat

My name is Jacob Chilcoat and I was commissioned as an elder on January 21, 2018.  My wife Soni and I have attended Heritage Community Church since 2012 and have diverse backgrounds and history within the Christian faith community.  Soni and I met and were married at Heritage, and are a blended, cross-cultural family with three children: Dylan, age 13; Lilly age 11; and Charlotte “Charlie” age 1.  I grew up in and around the Baltimore and Anne Arundel area most of my life.  Soni is a transplant from India, having lived in the Anne Arundel area since 2008.  We are blessed to work and live in the local community close to HCC.  For the past six years we have taken advantage of various ministry opportunities in order to serve our Heritage family!

You will often find my wife and I at the 11 o’clock service and may have seen me serving as one of the First Impressions Team (FIT) members!  I also consistently teach the Wednesday night adult Bible study and from time to time lead a home small group.  In addition to family, work, and serving at Heritage, I have had over a decade of military service and attend a Christian university.  Future goals include continued higher education and ministerial credentialing in order to better and more fully accept and execute increasing responsibilities for serving our HCC family.
